Darren Gilbert

Darren Gilbert graduated from Executive Security International's Advanced Executive Protection Program in May of 2000 with a combination score of over 95%.  He is currently working to develop a career in the executive protection business in Knoxville, Tennessee area.

Working for the Anderson County Juvenile Court as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, he investigates circumstances surrounding the abuse and neglect of children brought into the system and reports his findings to the court.  As a sworn officer of the court, he has undergone an extensive background check.  On many occasions, he has had to testify before the court.  Darren also volunteers his time as a CPS to Safe Haven and several other women's shelters in the Knoxville area.  He provides protective escorts for women traveling to and from court appearances, or to their homes to retrieve personal belongings.

Darren is a 4th Degree Black Belt in Isshin-ryu Karate and founded Gilbert's Isshin-ryu Dojo, a karate school in Clinton, Tennessee, in 1993.  Over the past years, he has taught many women's self-defense seminars and worked with local law enforcement personnel on defensive tactics and the use of non-lethal force.  

Darren served four years in the US Army.  While stationed at Weisbaden Airbase in Germany, he served as the Battalion Executive Officer's driver and as a driver for the battalion's emergency Quick Reaction Force.  During a tour at Camp Casey, South Korea, Darren participated on patrols into the DMZ to detect and deter North Korean infiltrators.  He also deployed to Panama with a unit of the 101st Air Assault Division during a period of increased tension.  While in Panama, he successfully completed the Jungle Warfare School.  Mr. Gilbert has held a Top-Secret security clearance.  Darren is a member of the American Society of Industrial Security and the National Sheriff's Association.  He has been certified through the American Heart Association in CPR and BLS.
