This 4 day course of instruction learned here will enhance the Protection Security Detail team's ability to operate in high risk threat environments. Students will review basic shooting skills with various assault rifles on a flat range. The course will build on the familiarization of shooting accuracy with a variety of weapons to an understanding of the handling of a carbine in tactical movements. The course will stress the critical importance of immediate and aggressive reaction to assaults or ambushes. Teams will perform Immediate Action Drills (IAD) repeatedly until a coherent response of each team member can be predicted in actual convoy ambushes or protective formations. The IAD drills will focus on reaction to 360 degrees of assault, shooting positions, clearing of the weapon stoppages, re-engagement, accuracy under stress and movement. Once the student is able to demonstrate safe and accurate carbine fire in the basic building blocks of the course, the student will advance towards tactical maneuvers in vehicle convoys, assaults on formations and the principal, multiple threat response and tactical awareness skill
Students will be tested during static target drills, and will be permitted to advance on to tactical team movements only after demonstrating safe weapon handling and accurate shooting. Students will execute live fire at multiple targets within fields of fire from vehicles, moving and stationary, and on the final day they will be required to pass all course criteria.
