This course section is devoted to Motorcade Ambush Response and evasive driving where students learn basic protective driving skills by participating in carefully designed hands-on driving exercises. In this evolution students will:

  • Learn the capabilities and limits of their vehicle during normal and low light conditions and in emergency situations.
  • Learn tactically proven maneuvers that have been taught to bodyguards and PSD drivers around the world.
  • Learn how to become more efficient at performing emergency vehicle maneuvers
  • Response training to Attack On Principle and Immediate Action Drills under fire

In the classroom, students will learn the tactics insurgents use to perform a successful attack on motorcades.  By knowing the specific tactics of the opposition, students will understand why specific motorcade maneuvers are used by PSD teams. Case studies will be drawn from recent incidents.

Motorcade Operations Course (level I)

In this evolution, a student combines both classroom and protective motorcade reaction tactics. Students will learn how to use a vehicle as both a defensive and offensive weapon. The student is introduced to the challenge of driving in coordinated motorcade movements with two vehicle, three vehicle and four vehicle motorcades. Students learn to drive as a team in both loose and tight protective formations.

Immediate Action Drills (IAD’s) are introduced to ensure that the motorcade drivers respond in concert with each other during different types of attacks. Attacks on Principal Drills are introduced to demonstrate team operations in single vehicle and convoy. Students will know how to respond to motorcade ambush from every angle of approach and possible weapon used.

Motorcade Operations Course (Level II)

A final evolution is presented to students near the end of the course. Full teams are tasked with transporting a client through an area of operations. The team, while moving in a motorcade, will be faced with a variety of mock “force on force” contact drills; some of which require a driving solution and some of which require skills learned in the CQB evolution of the course. Students will be tested and pass an objective set of standards before moving to Motorcade evolutions.
