This course emphasizes threat assessment and response, not disposal, of explosive. ESI students are taught how to manage bomb threats at the workplace, how to develop evacuation plans and appropriate response to detection of IEDs. Methods of search techniques are covered as well as preventive procedures to implement as policy in public buildings, including how to respond to threatening calls. The student also learns about available bomb detection technology; i.e., radio scanners, amplifiers, vapor sniffers, etc. While we do not expect to train bodyguards as bomb disposal technicians, we  instill a sufficient level of knowledge so that the professional is capable of offering intelligent advice to his employer, establishing basic safety procedures, and knowing what to do during a bomb incident.
